Frequently Asked Questions
We know choosing the right childcare center is an important decision, and you may have questions about our programs, policies, and daily routines. To help you feel confident and informed, we’ve gathered answers to the questions families ask most often.
If you’re looking for even more detail, we encourage you to view our Family Handbook, which provides comprehensive information about our center, philosophy, and procedures.
What are your hours of operation?
We’re open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Early drop-off (starting at 7 a.m.) and late pick-up (until 4:30 p.m.) are available by request for a small additional fee.
What ages do you care for?
We welcome children from 6 weeks to 13 years old into our programs. That includes infants and toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children needing before- or after-school care.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes! Miss Amber’s Daycare is a licensed and insured family child care provider in the state of New Hampshire. That means we meet all health, safety, and training standards and are inspected regularly.
Do you have space available?
Availability changes often. Please reach out directly to check for current openings or to join our waitlist. We’ll notify you when a spot becomes available.
How do I enroll my child?
Start by scheduling a tour. If it’s a good match, we’ll invite you for a second visit to complete the enrollment paperwork and pay the deposit. There’s also a two-week trial period to make sure it’s the right fit for everyone.
What’s included in your tuition?
Our tuition includes meals and snacks and lots of hands-on learning fun! Diapers and wipes for infants and toddlers are not included. Occasionally, there may be small fees for field trips or special activities, but we keep these minimal and optional.
What do you serve for meals and snacks?
We follow the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program, which means meals are healthy, balanced, and kid-friendly. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack are included. We accommodate most food allergies and dietary restrictions—just let us know your child’s needs.
What’s your approach to discipline?
We use positive guidance techniques to help children learn appropriate behavior. That includes redirection, clear expectations, and emotional support. We don’t use time-outs as punishment, instead, we help children pause, reflect, and reset.
What happens if my child is sick?
If your child has a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, or any contagious illness, please keep them home. If they become sick during the day, we’ll call you to pick them up within 30 minutes. This helps keep everyone healthy and safe.
Do you go outside every day?
Yes! Weather permitting, we go outside daily for fresh air and active play. We have a secure yard and love exploring the seasons through nature walks and outdoor games.
Can I visit during the day?
Absolutely! We just ask for a little advance notice so we can plan around naps or transitions. We also welcome parents to join us for special projects, holiday activities, or story time.
What’s the best way to stay in touch?
We communicate with families through daily updates at pickup, text messages, and occasional e-mails. We’re always available to chat or schedule a time to connect if you have questions or concerns.
