Welcome to Miss Amber’s Daycare
I’ve been providing licensed, home-based childcare in Plymouth, New Hampshire, since 2014, and it’s been both a joy and a calling. My daycare is designed to support families by offering dependable, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate full-time, part-time, and drop-in childcare for children from 6 weeks to 13 years old.
As a licensed childcare provider, I meet New Hampshire’s rigorous childcare licensing standards for safety, care, and ongoing training. That means families can feel confident knowing their children are in an environment that’s regularly inspected and held to high standards, just like any center-based program, but with the warmth and personal attention of home.
What Sets Miss Amber’s Daycare Apart?
I keep group sizes small so that every child receives the individual attention they need to thrive. Centrally located in Plymouth, NH, our home is fully outfitted for early learning: we have safe indoor play spaces, a cozy nap area, an inviting outdoor yard, and shelves full of age-appropriate toys, books, and sensory materials. We offer a structured but flexible daily routine, filled with opportunities for hands-on exploration, creative play, outdoor adventures, story time, and even community field trips.
We offer full- and part-time childcare, as well as drop-in care options, for children in three age groups:
Infants & Toddlers (6 weeks–2 years)
Preschoolers (3–5 years)
School-Age Children (6–13 years), including before/after school care and full-day care during school vacations
We go outside nearly every day (weather permitting) for fresh air, movement, and nature-based play. Inside, children rotate through “creation stations” and learning centers designed to promote curiosity, motor skills, and early academics. I believe children learn best through play, and I structure my curriculum accordingly with messy art, sensory bins, music, cooking, and lots of storytelling.
Safety is always a top priority. My home is equipped with video/audio surveillance, and I follow safe sleep practices for infants, including frequent physical checks and use of audio monitors. All adults in the home have passed state-mandated background checks, and I’m trained in both infant/child CPR and First Aid.
Most of all, I want families to know that I care deeply about each child who comes through my door. My top values are trust, individualized attention, and joyful learning. When your child is here, they’re not just in care, they’re part of our daycare family.
About Amber
Hi, I’m Amber Johnson—owner, teacher, and founder of Miss Amber’s Daycare in Plymouth, NH.
I started this daycare because I know firsthand how important it is to find safe, high-quality care that also feels like home. As a mom of four, I’ve walked in the shoes of many of the parents I now serve in Central New Hampshire. I wanted to create the kind of place I once looked for, where children are known, loved, and celebrated for who they are.
I’ve worked in early childhood for more than 15 years, including time as a one-on-one aid for children with disabilities. I earned my associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Lakes Region Community College in 2018 and have been a licensed childcare provider since 2014. I also stay current with professional development in areas, such as child development, curriculum design, and trauma-informed care.
My approach is relationship-based and child-centered. I treat every child with respect and care, and I work hard to create a classroom that’s joyful, inclusive, and developmentally rich. I love messy projects, silly songs, and helping a child master something new, whether it’s counting to ten or naming a big feeling.
With families, I believe in open, honest communication and shared decision-making. I see parents as partners, and I welcome feedback, questions, and collaboration. I understand that placing your child in someone else’s care is a huge decision and I don’t take that lightly.
What do I love most about this work? The little things. Watching a baby giggle at bubbles. Hearing a preschooler tell their first knock-knock joke. Helping a child who was nervous at drop-off smile at pick-up. These everyday moments are where the magic lives.
If you’re thinking about Miss Amber’s Daycare for your family, I invite you to come visit, ask questions, and get to know me. I’d love to learn more about your child and how we can help them learn, grow, and thrive together.
